Strengthening Your Spirit

We probably think about many things in our lives that need to be strengthened such as our bodies, our minds, or our relationships. What we may not think of is our “spirit.” There is a process by which we can strengthen our spirit, and God’s word tells us how it is possible...

Intercessory Prayer - LESSON 1

And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him. (1 John 5:14,15)

Intercede Successfully in Prayer - LESSON 4

Read more about Us

our story

The Church of Restoration is a group of individuals and families that are seeking the heart of God and desiring to demonstrate His presence here on earth. As followers of Jesus Christ, most of us have a long history in the traditional, evangelical church setting. While we value our past, we are also longing for fresh encounters with God's Holy Spirit and a context in which to share this adventure. We are a Word and Spirit focused church and believe that the journey of our lives is just as important as the destination.

vision

Based on the Scriptures of Isaiah 58 and 61, we desire to see the lives of people restored and for God’s Kingdom to be expressed through this body of believers. The one motto that we must remember if we are going to be a channel for God’s glory is . . . “Ministry takes place when divine resources meet human needs through loving channels to the glory of God.”

LOCAL OUTREACH

We started a ministry called “Kingdom Connections for Women” that enables us to connect and encourage women outside of our church family. We meet quarterly on the 1st Thursday of October, December, February and April to share a time of fellowship over dinner. In the 2017-2018 season, we will also have an outreach event that Christian women from the surrounding counties can unite to bless others in our community.

Testimonials

  • After 55 years of living in Orlando, Florida, God was calling me into a new direction and into a new mission field. That new mission field is East Tennessee. I sought God's will to place me in a church that teaches the true word of God and expresses true love and compassion for all of God's people and that church is The Church of Restoration.

    Ralph Grable, Jr.

  • I am so thankful to have found The Church of Restoration! A church of love, acceptance and encouragement without compromising the Word of God. A church that understands the unique needs of Sevier County working people, welcomes each and every one to come just as you are and truly means it. I came and never left!

    Janice Schaefer

  • I love being a part of The Church of Restoration. I am experiencing ongoing personal spiritual growth as I am continually blessed by: True worship. Deep, meaningful teaching directly from the Bible. Shepherd leadership. Sincere desire to fulfill God’s purpose for us. Sweet fellowship - real connection and love within the church family. Passion for outreach and missions. Opportunities for service. This list could go on and on.

  • Shortly after first attending TCOR, my dad had major heart surgery which left him paralyzed. Pastor Tim and Sherri provided stability for my family during this difficult period and also in my father's passing. We are so thankful for their friendship and for The Church of Restoration.

Core Values

01.

The Centrality of Christ

In every aspect of our ministry, the focal point will always be the honor and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. ( Jn.15:5; 2 Cor.4:5; Eph.1:6,12; Col.3:23-24 )

02.

The Inerrancy of Scripture

The authority of our ministry comes from the Word of God as we submit ourselves to its teaching, commit ourselves to do what it says, and yield our lives to become what Christ desires for us to be . ( 1 Thess.2:13; 2 Tim.3:16; 2 Peter 1:21 )

03.

The Essentialness of the Spirit

The restoration of the Spirit of God to His rightful place in the Church and in the life of the believer is vital. The Spirit of Christ is a Person, who desires to invade us mentally, morally and spiritually. To be Holy Spirit filled, led and empowered is a necessity. ( Jn.4:24, 14:26; Rom.5:5, 7:6; Gal.5:16-25)

04.

The Sustainability of Prayer

All that we do must be sustained through prayer or else there is no reason to expect the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in our ministry. All that we do must be sustained through prayer or else there is no reason to expect the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in our ministry. ( Luke 18:1; Eph.3:14-21, 6:18; Col.4:2; 1 Thess.5:17 )

05.

Faith-filled Reliance

Knowing that “without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Heb.11:6), our dependence will be upon what God can and will do, and not upon human ingenuity. Having faith without works is not enough and having works without love is not acceptable. ( Matt.9:29, 17:20; Rom.10:17; Heb.11:1, 6 )

06.

A Global View of Missions

Knowing that Christ died for every tongue, tribe and nation, our ministry will intentionally declare the gospel of the Kingdom and share purposefully in “acts of kindness” beyond ourselves into our local community and to the ends of the earth. ( Ps.145:11-13; Matt.24:14, 28:19; Jn.3:16; Acts 1:8 )

07.

An Environment of Grace

We understand that good things happen when God‘s favor is toward us. Our ministry together must be characterized by that same grace in our response to one another. We recognize that it is impossible to grow relationships when living in an atmosphere of disapproval. This is not about ignoring people’s faults but about recognizing we all are a work in progress in becoming like Jesus. ( 2 Cor.9:8; Eph.4:32; James 4:6 )

08.

The Significance of Servanthood

Our ministry is built upon the assumption that there is no task or responsibility beneath any of our members so that each one of us serves with a humble heart, grateful for the privilege of serving Christ and His body. ( Matthew 20:26-28; Romans 12:3; Philippians 1:20-21, 2:3-5 )

09.

The Accountability of Small Groups

Integrity in the lives and ministry of this church requires that we provide a context for accountability in our relationships. ( Acts 2:44-46;1 Corinthians 12:18-20; Galatians 6:2,10; Hebrews 10:24-25 )
